In chapter five, I do not get why Hucks dad even came back. He is a no life, drunk and it bothered me how he just sits here and demands for Huck's money. Plus, what kind of judge would not let someone take custody from a kid who has a drunk for a father? This just reminds me when I see dads who have not been in the child's life either emotionally or physically, tend to show up when they need money or just want something. Its sad that there are actually a ton of people who are going through the same situation as Huck. This poor kid gets kidnapped by his dad and might even lose the money he has been given. I was kind of confused on why Huck was hiding from everyone. I understand why he would hid from his dad, but to hide from Tom, Widow, and more people that care about him is confusing.
In chapter 6 on page 27, there is a quote from Pap. Pap is pretty much saying that hey does not want to live in a world where a free black can vote. He pretty much says that our government is stupid and whacked to even allow such a thing to happen. He is against any black man to vote for our country. It is crazy to think how racist people were back then and how they did not even think of a colored man as a human being. They saw them as worthless people who did not deserve any of the rights or privileges as a white man. It is honestly quite sad to even think about and to think it actually happened and for him to to blame/ hate the government for allowing it to happen is just appalling.
It is interesting to me how such a young man would want be so independent so early in his life. I could not imagine going off faking my own death and live on my own. It actually amazes me on how smart this kid is or how even thought about faking his death. I would not of thought about shooting a wild hog and using its blood to fake that it was his. It is actually interesting that Huck found Jim on the island he escaped too. I have a huge feeling that Huck and JIm are going to become really close even though back then it was totally frowned upon. It just makes you wonder if they ever do go back home, will Huck be close to Jim in front of others?
